India Rejects OIC’s Kashmir Resolution, Accuses Pakistan of Misusing Islamic Bloc

India has strongly rejected the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) resolution on Jammu and Kashmir, saying the grouping has once again allowed itself to be misused by Pakistan for a narrow political agenda. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the anti-India references as malicious, biased, and false.

The statement came after the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Baghdad on October 17–18 adopted references concerning Jammu and Kashmir. India said these references were orchestrated by Pakistan and rejected them categorically.

    India’s position on Kashmir

The MEA reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral and inalienable parts of India. It said the OIC has no locus standi to comment on matters that are strictly internal to India.

New Delhi also said that politically motivated propaganda cannot change India’s position on the Union Territories. The government maintained that the OIC’s repeated comments on Kashmir damage its credibility.

    MEA’s criticism of Pakistan

India accused Pakistan of using the OIC platform to divert global attention from its own domestic problems. The MEA said Pakistan was attempting to shift focus away from its record of minority persecution, sectarian violence, governance failures, and political instability.

The ministry said the OIC should not allow itself to be used for Pakistan’s “bigoted agenda.” It expressed disappointment that the organisation had once again endorsed hostile references against India.

    Why the OIC resolution matters

The OIC is a 57-member grouping of Muslim-majority countries. Its resolutions often include references to Jammu and Kashmir, largely reflecting Pakistan’s long-standing effort to internationalise the issue. India has consistently rejected such interventions, arguing that Kashmir is a bilateral matter between India and Pakistan and that the Union Territories are an internal part of India.

This is not the first time New Delhi has responded sharply to the OIC. Earlier, India rejected the OIC Contact Group’s joint communiqué on Jammu and Kashmir, calling it unwarranted and factually incorrect.

    Key takeaways

    • India rejected the OIC’s anti-India references as malicious, biased, and false.
    • The MEA said Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh are integral parts of India.
    • India accused Pakistan of misusing the OIC to pursue its political agenda.
    • New Delhi said Pakistan was trying to divert attention from minority persecution and sectarian violence at home.
    • India maintained that the OIC has no standing to comment on India’s internal affairs.

India’s response signals that it will continue to oppose any external attempt to question its sovereignty over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, while putting the focus back on Pakistan’s domestic record.
