Modi and Macron Unite in Nice: Bharat Innovates 2026 Puts India’s Deep-Tech on Global Stage

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron warmly inaugurated Bharat Innovates 2026 in Nice today, marking a strong step forward in India-France tech cooperation. The two leaders greeted each other with a hug and handshake, reflecting the deep trust between the nations.

Bharat Innovates 2026 is a three-day deep-tech conclave running from June 14 to 16. It brings together cutting-edge startups, venture capital funds, global investors, and leaders from higher education institutions across India, France, and beyond.

India’s Deep-Tech Story Takes Center Stage

The summit showcases India’s rapidly growing innovation ecosystem. Over 120 deep-tech startups from more than 3,000 applicants were selected to participate. These companies collectively hold 1,500+ patents and have raised more than $1.5 billion in funding.

Around $20 million in fresh investment commitments have already been finalized or are close to being sealed, signaling strong global confidence in India’s deep-tech sector.

The event also features 500+ global investors and CEOs, including representatives from more than 15 higher education institutions such as India’s prestigious IITs.

    Trust and Cooperation in Technology

During the inauguration, both leaders emphasized the importance of trust, cooperation, and shared responsibility in advancing technology. They highlighted how collaboration in artificial intelligence, aerospace, defense tech, clean energy, and advanced manufacturing can drive mutual growth.

PM Modi said that India is emerging as a global innovation powerhouse, and Bharat Innovates 2026 is a platform to present that story to the world. Macron echoed this, noting France’s strong support for India’s technological rise and the shared vision for responsible AI and sustainable innovation.

    A High-Profile Diplomacy Trip

Modi’s visit to France was made at the invitation of President Macron. After Nice, PM Modi is scheduled to travel to Slovakia later on Sunday for the second leg of his Europe tour, which will also include participation at the G7 summit.

The France trip is expected to strengthen bilateral ties in defense, trade, and technology, with both nations looking to expand partnerships in emerging sectors.
