Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking in the Lok Sabha today, addressed concerns and speculations surrounding India’s recent military action Operation Sindoor. The operation was launched as a decisive response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which shocked the nation and drew significant attention both within India and abroad. During his address, Prime Minister Modi reassured the country that contrary to several reports and claims, no world leader asked India to stop or scale down Operation Sindoor at any point.

Modi explained that the decision to proceed with Operation Sindoor was taken with the clear intention of safeguarding India’s national security and interests. He highlighted that the armed forces were given full authority and operated without external interference. The Prime Minister referenced claims made by former US President Donald Trump about international involvement or mediation but firmly dismissed such assertions, stating that the Indian government acted independently and confidently.

Providing more context, Modi shared that the only foreign attempt to reach out was from US Vice President J.D. Vance, who contacted him on May 9, warning about possible major escalation by Pakistan. However, Modi emphasized that his response was resolute, making it clear to all parties that any escalation from Pakistan would result in severe consequences. According to Modi, after the operation began and resulted in significant setbacks for Pakistan, they themselves reached out seeking a ceasefire, not any global leader or mediator.

Modi further stressed that India enjoyed broad international support during this sensitive time. Out of 193 countries, only three sided with Pakistan, while the rest recognized and supported India’s actions. Wrapping up his statement, the Prime Minister reaffirmed that India’s government and armed forces took decisions based solely on the country’s security needs, acting without pressure or directives from any outside nation.
