India marked its 76th National Constitution Day on November 26, 2025, with a grand event held at the historic Central Hall of Samvidhan Sadan in New Delhi. The occasion commemorated the adoption of the Indian Constitution by the Constituent Assembly in 1949, emphasizing the nation’s pride in its democratic foundation.
The celebration was graced by President Droupadi Murmu, who led the nation in reading the Preamble of the Constitution, reaffirming the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also addressed the gathering, underscoring the Constitution’s role in empowering every citizen and inspiring progress. Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla were present, with Om Birla paying homage to the architects of the Constitution, including Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
A significant highlight was the digital launch of the Constitution in nine regional languages, including the first-ever editions in Kashmiri and Bodo, broadening access to this guiding document. Additionally, a commemorative booklet focusing on the art and calligraphy of the Constitution was released, celebrating the cultural heritage integral to the nation’s highest legal text.
The event followed the theme “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhiman” (Our Constitution, Our Pride), reflecting the collective respect and responsibility towards the Constitution. The historic venue, once the old Parliament building, added symbolism to the ceremony, linking India’s democratic journey from its inception to the present.
This National Constitution Day ceremony not only celebrated the past achievements of the framers but also inspired citizens to uphold constitutional values in the path ahead, reinforcing India’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law.
