Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka is currently on a significant official visit to India from August 24 to 26, 2025, marking his first trip since taking office. This visit underlines the growing friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations, rooted in shared history and mutual interest.
During his stay, PM Rabuka held productive talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, focusing on enhancing cooperation in sectors such as climate change, sustainable development, ocean resource management, and regional security. The discussions reflect India’s commitment to support Fiji’s development initiatives and regional leadership.
The Fijian delegation also met India’s President Droupadi Murmu and participated in events showcasing the close diplomatic ties between the two countries. Rabuka’s keynote address on ‘Ocean of Peace’ emphasized the shared vision for peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region, aligning closely with India’s diplomatic priorities.
India and Fiji reaffirmed their deep-rooted cultural links and people-to-people connections through the joint statement using the term “Veilomani Dosti,” symbolizing enduring friendship.
