Addressing the Lok Sabha (Lower House) of the Parliament of India, Union Home Minister Amit Shah today confirmed that the three terrorists – Suleman alias Faizal, Afghan and Jibran – who carried out the massacre in Pahalgam Kashmir, were neutralised by security forces during Operation Mahadev near Dachigam National Park in Srinagar on July 28.
Following the Pahalgam terror attack in April this year, India and Pakistan nearly went to war in May, as India in exercise of its Right to Self Defence carried out Operation Sindoor and struck terror targets and launchpads inside Pakistan.
Informing the Parliament Home Minister Amit Shah stated “In a joint Operation Mahadev, the Indian Army, CRPF, and J&K Police have neutralised three terrorists who were involved in the Pahalgam terror attack,” during a debate on Operation Sindoor.
Shah further stated that all three were A-category terrorists of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terror outfit.
“Suleman was an A-category commander of the Lashkar-e-Taiba. Afghan was an A-category Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist. And Jibran was also an A-grade terrorist… All three terrorists who killed our citizens in the Baisaran valley have been eliminated,” he said.
He further informed that people who used to supply food to these terrorists were detained earlier.
Earlier on Monday, the Indian Army had said that the three heavily armed terrorists were killed in ‘Operation Mahadev’, a joint operation by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force), launched in the Harwan area on the outskirts of Srinagar.
However, their identities could not be confirmed, and the Jammu and Kashmir police stated that it would take some time. Shah told the House that the bodies were taken to Srinagar, where their associates who were detained earlier confirmed their identities.,
“Once the bodies of these terrorists were brought to Srinagar, they were identified by those who were kept detained by our agencies,” he said.
Shah said that the rifles seized from the three terrorists matched the FSL report of the cartridges from the terror attack, which further confirmed their involvement in the Pahalgam attack.
“The FSL report of the cartridges from the terror attack was already ready… Yesterday, the rifles of the three terrorists were seized and matched with the FSL reports… Further tests were carried out in Chandigarh yesterday, after that it was confirmed that these three were those who carried out the terror attack,” he added.
While making the big announcement, the Home Minister also took a dig at the Opposition, saying, “I was expecting that when they hear this news of killing of the Pahalgam terrorists, they will be happy, but instead they don’t seem happy about it.”
Shah gave the credit for neutralising those who sent the terrorists to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “I want to tell all families today that Modi ji neutralised those who sent the terrorists, and today our security forces killed those who committed the killings,” he said.
