Operation Sindoor to Drone Didis: Highlights from Mann Ki Baat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on May 25, 2025, through the 122nd episode of his radio program, Mann Ki Baat. In this edition, he shared inspiring stories that reflect India’s progress, innovation, and resilience.

He began by highlighting the success of Operation Sindoor, describing it as a shining example of India’s growing defense capabilities and self-reliance. The operation made use of homegrown technology and weapons, showing that India no longer depends on foreign powers for its security. It was a moment of pride that underlined the courage of our armed forces and the strength of ‘Make in India’ initiatives in the defense sector.

Modi then turned attention to an emerging force in Indian agriculture—Drone Didis. These are rural women who are trained to use drones for spraying fertilizers and monitoring crops. Their work is not only modernizing farming practices but also empowering women in villages to take leadership roles in technology-driven agriculture. The Prime Minister referred to them as ‘sky warriors’ and praised their contribution to building a new, tech-savvy rural India.

He also shared a touching story involving school students who sent him a gift to express their gratitude towards the soldiers of the nation. The gift was a handmade item filled with messages honoring the sacrifices of Indian soldiers. Modi appreciated the gesture and called it a symbol of how deeply patriotism runs in the hearts of young Indians. He encouraged more youth to connect with the spirit of service and nation-building.

Another important part of the program was his message about regions that were once under the grip of Maoist violence. Areas like Katejhari in Maharashtra and Dantewada in Chhattisgarh are now seeing real progress. With better roads, education, and health facilities, these areas are slowly becoming part of mainstream development. The Prime Minister credited the courage of local people and consistent government efforts for the positive change.
