In a significant escalation along the western border, the Indian government confirmed that four key Indian Air Force (IAF) stations were targeted by Pakistan in overnight strikes that caused limited damage. In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched precision strikes on six Pakistani air bases, focusing solely on military infrastructure.
Colonel Sophia Qureshi, during a special media briefing, revealed that Pakistan had attempted to hit as many as 26 strategic sites overnight. These included Indian air bases, transport hubs, and civilian facilities. A high-speed missile attack was also reported at an airbase in Punjab around 1:40 am. Additionally, medical centres and school premises near Srinagar, Awantipora, and Udhampur faced attacks, further raising concerns over civilian safety.
The Pakistani strikes hit four Indian air stations — Udhampur, Pathankot, Adampur, and Bhuj. Officials confirmed that the damage was minor and that all critical operations remain functional. In a swift counter-operation, Indian forces targeted six Pakistani bases — Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunia — using precision-guided weaponry to avoid civilian casualties.
“India’s response has been restrained yet firm,” said Colonel Qureshi. “Only pre-identified military targets were engaged — including radar installations, command centres, and weapon storage facilities.” Among these was a radar site in Pasrur and the Sialkot aviation base, which were hit by Indian fighter jets.
Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that the Indian military is maintaining high operational readiness. “Every hostile action has been met with an appropriate and proportionate response,” she said. She also refuted Pakistan’s claims regarding the destruction of Indian strategic assets like the S-400 missile system and Sirsa and Suratgarh airfields, calling them “fabricated and baseless.” The government has released time-stamped images of the said airfields to counter these allegations.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri strongly condemned Pakistan’s actions, labeling them as “provocative and escalatory.” He also mourned the death of Rajouri’s Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa, who was killed earlier in the day during cross-border shelling.
“Pakistan is resorting to misinformation and propaganda while violating international norms,” Misri said. “India, on the other hand, has acted with responsibility and precision.”
With tensions high along the Line of Control and beyond, India continues to assert that its military actions are aimed solely at neutralising threats, not escalating conflict. The situation remains under close watch as diplomatic and military channels assess further developments.
