India has launched a powerful military response to the recent Pahalgam terror attack through a series of precision strikes under the banner of Operation Sindoor. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during an all-party meeting on Thursday, informed political leaders that at least 100 terrorists, including some high-ranking operatives, were killed in targeted operations carried out by Indian forces in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
The air and missile strikes reportedly hit nine terror hubs, including camps in Bahawalpur and Muridke, which are known bases for extremist outfits like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. These actions were carried out in response to the Pahalgam attack that shook the nation earlier this month, resulting in the deaths of 26 soldiers.
Rajnath Singh, along with other key members of the Cabinet Committee on Security—Home Minister Amit Shah, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman—briefed leaders from all major political parties. The government highlighted that the operation is ongoing, and some sensitive details could not be made public for security reasons.
Despite the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the meeting, opposition leaders stood firmly with the government. Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge acknowledged the PM’s absence but emphasized that this was not the time for criticism. He stated that the Opposition fully supports any move the government takes to protect the nation and its people.
The mood in the meeting reflected a rare show of unity, with leaders across party lines praising the armed forces for the successful execution of Operation Sindoor. They expressed their unwavering commitment to stand by the government during this national security crisis.
As India navigates a tense geopolitical situation, the message from New Delhi is clear: the country will not hesitate to act when its sovereignty is threatened. With the entire political spectrum speaking in one voice, Operation Sindoor stands as a powerful symbol of India’s resolve and unity against terrorism.
